Security & Privacy

CyberGhost supports a range of encryption protocols, with the 256-bit OpenVPN protocol as standard. Other supported protocols are L2TP and PPTP.

CyberGhost is a Romanian company. They don’t keep logs of your online activities. As they don’t record your IPs, web addresses, or content you access, they don’t have anything to reveal to the authorities. CyberGhost accepts Bitcoin payment. And since the payment is processed by a third party, even if you choose other modes of payment, CyberGhost will not have access to your payment information.

CyberGhost offers several different support options to choose from:

  • Chat
  • Help and FAQ
  • Create A Ticket

We love this feature, and to be honest, we expect an online Chat feature nowadays for all serious vpn companies. We found the CyberGhost chat function to be quick and efficient. We asked a range of simple and straight forward questions (including a few questions that were quite technical in nature), and just about all of them were able to be answered via their Chat function.

Help and FAQ:

For those that prefer to be self-sufficient, CyberGhost offers a comprehensive collection of users guides covering the following categories:

  • CyberGhost VPN for Windows
  • CyberGhost VPN for Mac OSX
  • CyberGhost VPN for iOS
  • CyberGhost VPN for Android
  • CyberGhost VPN for Linux
  • CyberGhost VPN for Kodi Media Centers
  • CyberGhost VPN for Routers and other Devices
  • CyberGhost VPN for native protocol usage
  • Practical Tips

Create A Ticket:

For support enquiries that are more detailed, or maybe even require that you attach some sort of file or screenshot, submitting a Ticket is often the best choice. When we tested this feature we found response times to be mostly within 24 hours (with the longest time we recorded being 48 hours).

CyberGhost offers excellent speeds due to their superior network of servers. At last count (January 2019) CyberGhost reported to have 1,316 vpn servers operational around the globe. The countries that they have a server presence in is graphically represented below:

Having a large server cluster is vital for speed and performance as it means that your network traffic is evenly distributed over a wider number of servers. VPN server speed is especially important if you are using your vpn service to stream movies, tv programs, or play video games online.

Much of the server software development for CyberGhost is performed out of their German office. Having their development team based out of this location helps to ensure a high level of coding and quality – as has become the norm for most tech companies operating out of Germany.

  1. I’ve been using CyberGhost for probably over a year now and it’s one of the top VPNs I’d recommend. The bandwidth is really high and its fine for streaming Netflix and YouTube in HD and stuff and it’s cheap too!

  2. Does anyone know if CyberGhost lets you download movie torrents? I’ve used other VPNs and when I try to download movies or TV shows it just doesn’t load

  3. Is it still possible to access the free CyberGhost version? I’m not able to find it on their website anywhere in the ‘Pricing’ section. Do I just download the software and run it without making a paid account?

  4. I’d highly recommend CyberGhost if you’re travelling or live abroad. I’m in Mexico on vacation and I can still access everything from Australian & US websites just fine. The bandwidth is fast enough for Full HD too

  5. Hey guys, if anyone’s wondering about the setup process, it only took literally 2 steps on my MacBook. You only have to download the CyberGhost file and run it and hit ‘Connect’ and it’s all done. There’s super easy access to all the servers too, they open in a list.

  6. Regarding their support … I’ve found they actually have a really responsive and nice support team for when you have issues that actually are relating to their service. So if you’re stuck just speak with them.

  7. It’s been about 4 months since I’ve started using the pro version of CyberGhost and its been totally smooth, no bugs or disconnects or anything like that. It’s a yes from me.

  8. CyberGhost is one of the only VPNs I’ve found that has a bandwidth good enough to stream 4K videos on Vimeo and YouTube. I genuinely just leave it on all the time because its fast enough to deal with my downloads and everything I do online.

  9. Do major peak usage times cause dips in bandwidth that affect streaming, does anyone know? If so, what times are the peak times?

  10. Once I heard how dedicated they are about adding a load of new servers I decided to go with them. Customer first is always a plus.

  11. Service is awesome, server list is awesome and speeds are great. Just the iOS app needs to be updated for iPhone X
